Lately, I had been feeling a certain pull towards Moonstone. Visually, it’s a stunning crystal. But what really appealed to me was a thought that crossed my mind: “Perhaps it has the ability to help me stay connected to the essence of the moon.” I do my best to stay connected to the cycles of the moon & the cycles of nature, and I will happily utilize anything that helps me nurture that connection.
Last weekend I went to a gem & mineral show with the intent of finding such a moonstone. I kept imagining that it was a palm sized stone. While looking over the numerous sales tables I saw a group of very small pieces of moonstone, a large black/grey moonstone sphere, but none were quite what I had in mind. Eventually, I was guided to the crystal I had been looking for: a palm sized stone from Russia. That afternoon when I got home, I put all of my crystals out in the forest and let them charge for several hours until dusk, with the hope of doing some crystal healing work later on that night.
Before darkness fell, I gathered up the crystals from the forest. While thinking of putting the moonstone on my chest directly over the heart chakra, every time I blinked my eyes I began seeing these intense blue flashes of color. This phenomena continued every time I closed my eyes. The blue I was seeing was reminiscent of the blue that appears when you turn a moonstone in the light. Only, it was happening over the darkness of my eyelids. I immediately got the sense that the blue flashes I was seeing was the crystal’s way of letting me know it has something to say.
I eventually laid down with the moonstone over my chest and the visions I received were instantaneous. In order for me to receive visions, it typically takes a full chakra layout with 7+ fully charged crystals to get the process going. I was taken aback by the power of this one crystal. Curious about my experience, I began researching the history of moonstone. I knew nothing about it, except for the fact that it was associated with the moon. What I discovered, was that numerous ancient cultures held the belief that moonstone was solidified moonbeams. Apparently it was used by ancient priestesses of the moon to enhance clairvoyant abilities and receive spiritual messages through visions.
So far, I can personally attest to the fact that at least some of the legends surrounding moonstone are true. It has also proved helpful in keeping me connected me to the moon cycles & cycles of nature. During the last full moon it called out to me again, & every time I closed my eyes I began seeing intense blue flashes of light.
