Finishing “The Fellowship of the Ring” on Midsummer’s Day

I began reading “The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” several weeks ago and I made it a point to read at least one chapter a day. I woke up this morning with only 6 pages left to read and was able to finish the entire first book. What a wonderful story so far. I will say, that it is well worth the read. For anyone who’s ever seen the movies, there was so much information left out, that it almost transformed into an entirely different story altogether.

There was also something so meaningful about being able to finish it on Midsummer’s day. Sabbats/or celebrations of cycles, always seem to call out to me in ways that make it seem like God is trying to weave me back into nature. So, the timing of it felt divine.

I finished the day off with a brief walk which eventually lead me to these purple wildflowers: tufted vetch. Now, while it’s still fresh in my mind, I’ll be moving onto the next book “The Two Towers”… and savoring the rest of the flowers of summer.
